Milwaukee ISM Index Slips to 50 in September From 59 in August

NEW YORK – The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Index dropped to 50 in September from 59 in August, according to the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee.

New orders received slid to 63 from 66, production fell to 64 from 74, backlog decreased to 49 from 57, and supplier lead times inched up to 34 from 32.

Blue collar employment crept to 64 from 63, while white collar employment slid to 59 from 60. Inventory levels remained at 57, while capital equipment purchases slumped to 59 from 69.

The prices paid index fell to 57 from 58.
