STL’s New Science Space

The 25-year-old St. Louis Science Center last week announced plans to construct a $9.5 million exhibition hall to replace the temporary Exploradome space.

The new 13,000-square-feet hall would open next summer and be used to host touring exhibits and educational programming. The center built the Exploradome in 1996 as a 10-year solution to its space needs.

The center plans to privately place tax-exempt bonds with U.S. Bank through the St. Louis Industrial Development Authority, according to published reports. The center expects private and corporate donations will eventually cover the project’s costs.
