Pineiro, who started the job Monday, will be based in Chicago and will report to John Puig, a managing director based in New York. Pineiro has 31 years of professional experience and 20 years in the public finance sector, spending the past 14 years covering infrastructure, government, public power, and higher education clients at Goldman.
"We’re excited for Carlos to join our top-ranked platform as we continue to grow and capture new opportunities," said Jim Tricolli, co-head of municipal finance at RBC, in an internal memo obtained by The Bond Buyer.
Pineiro has led financings in excess of $30 billion for public finance clients and provided advice on public-private partnerships.
Prior to Goldman, Pineiro worked at the Government Development Bank for Puerto Rico as an executive vice president and financing director, where he led the structuring and execution of all financings for the Commonwealth. Before that, he worked as a corporate and healthcare investment banker at Banc One Capital Markets.
