WASHINGTON – Market participants and others who sign up for email alerts from the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board's EMMA website can now specify the types of continuing disclosure filings from issuers for which they would like to be notified.

The MSRB announced this effort to customize notifications on Wednesday as part of an ongoing effort to improve EMMA's usability.

Prior to the change, users could opt to receive alerts for every financial disclosure or all event filings for one or more securities but could not narrow their selections to specific documents or events.

The MSRB also improved the details about trading activity or other developments that triggered these automated alerts.

"Thousands of investors and other EMMA users rely on the alerts feature to stay up to date with the latest available information on their securities," MSRB executive director Lynnette Kelly said. "These enhancements allow users to be more selective about the types of alerts they wish to receive and provide more descriptive information about the nature of the alert."

The EMMA alerts are available for trade activity as well as for new disclosure document filings that include information about annual financial information or notices of events that can have an impact on the bonds.

The MSRB said it is considering additional changes to the EMMA alerts function that would benefit the website's performance and usability.
