Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce has been honored by the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers for national leadership in state government transparency.

Pearce received the NASACT's President's Award for efforts in government financial management and accountability at the organization's annual conference in Chicago. Under Pearce's leadership, Vermont was the first state to develop a state disclosure web site that adheres to NASACT's 10 best practices for state government voluntary reporting.

"Beth's work to improve disclosure in Vermont serves as a model for other states working to implement the association's best practices in voluntary financial reporting," said NASACT President William Holland in a statement. "In addition to her leadership in this area, she has been a loyal and steadfast member of NASACT's Executive Committee."

Pearce was first appointed treasurer by Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin in January 2010. She was elected to her first full term in November 2012.
