U. of Mich. Nov. Index at 71.6 vs. 67.7 in October

NEW YORK - The University of Michigan's final November consumer sentiment index reading was 71.6, compared to the preliminary November 69.3, the final October 67.7, and the final September 68.2, according to market sources.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 69.5 reading for the index.

The expectations index was 64.8, compared to 62.7 earlier in the month, 61.9 in October, and 60.9 in September.

The current conditions index was 82.1, compared to 79.9 earlier in the month, 76.6 in October, and 79.6 in September.

Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 79.9 reading for the current conditions index and 63.0 for the expectations index.

The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.8% earlier in November, 2.8% in October, 2.7%, and 2.7% in September, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.0%, compared to 3.0% earlier in November, 2.7% in October, and 2.2% in September.

The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
