NEW YORK - The University of Michigan's preliminary November consumer sentiment index reading was 69.3, compared to the final October 67.7, the preliminary October 67.9, and the final September 68.2, according to market sources.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 69.0 reading for the index.
The expectations index was 62.7, compared to 61.9 in October, 64.6 earlier in October, and 60.9 in September.
The current conditions index was 79.9, compared to 76.6 in October, 73.0 earlier in October, and 79.6 in September.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had predicted a 77.0 reading for the current conditions index and 63.5 for the expectations index.
The five-year inflation expectation index was 2.8%, compared to 2.8% in October, 2.7% earlier in October, and 2.7% in September, while the one-year inflation expectation index was 3.0%, compared to 2.7% in October, 2.6% earlier in October, and 2.2% in September.
The University of Michigan index is not released to the press, but only to paying subscribers.
