Prudential Hires Two for Public Finance

in its public finance department in New York City and Seattle.

Mark Liff, vice president and a former banker with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp., will cover health care and higher education agencies, as well as issuers in the Northeast and Florida. Liff will work in Prudential's New York office.

Andrew Face, a former vice president at Seattle Northwest Securities Corp., will assist senior bankers with general obligation and revenue bond financing. Face previously was a senior auditor for Arthur Andersen & Co.

So far in 1995, Prudential Securities, a subsidiary of the Prudential Insurance Company of America, ranks fourth among senior managers of negotiated municipal debt, according to Securities Data Co.

Meanwhile, Samuel Ramirez has hired two investment bankers from CS First Boston's disbanded municipal department as well as three institutional sales representative from Donaldson Lufkin, company officials say.

Margaret Guarino, a former vice president in the public finance department at First Boston, will start next Monday as a managing director in Ramirez's public finance department. Bob Foggio, also from First Boston's public finance department, joined Ramirez last Monday.

Mark Wallace, Jim Welch and John Engles, institutional sales representatives formerly with Donaldson Lufkin, joined Ramirez's sales department two weeks ago.

Firm executives say Ramirez is currently in discussions with another six people from First Boston but declined to comment further.
