The bank announced Thursday that Fields will be responsible for West Coast sales and client relationship development across the wealth management channels of its fixed-income business.

Fields was a senior vice president at PIMCO, where he was responsible for managing the municipal business. He was also involved in product development, internal and external product communications, and writing commentary on the muni market.

One of his roles last year was product manager of the PIMCO Build America Bond Strategy Fund, an actively managed exchange-traded fund.

Prior to joining PIMCO in 2001, Fields was a founding member of eBondTrade.com, an online municipal bond investment bank, where for two years he was head of sales and business.

He previously spent 11 years in the fixed-income division of Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he spearheaded its West Coast municipal fixed-income sales operations.

“Bob brings extensive municipal bond and overall fixed-income market knowledge, a proven track record of success and a wealth of strong industry relationships to our team,” Gary Madich, global chief investment officer of JPMorgan Asset Management in Columbus, Ohio, said in a press release. “He will greatly enhance our West Coast business and our growing presence in that region.”

Fields will be based in San Francisco and report to the Columbus fixed-income team.

JPMorgan Asset Management holds roughly $1.3 trillion of assets under management as of March 31. The Columbus fixed-income team manages about $172 billion in assets.
