N.Y. BCI Climbs To 10.57 in December

The Empire State Manufacturing Survey reported better manufacturing conditions in December for the New York region, according to Federal Reserve data released Wednesday.

The general business conditions index surged past economist expectations to 10.57 from a November reading of negative 11.14, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York reported. Economists expected a reading of 5.0.

The new orders index surged to positive 2.60 from negative 24.38, the Fed said.
