Four municipal bond lawyers from Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander & Ferdon have joined Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan, a full-service law firm based in New York City.

A. Sydney Holmes 3d and Martin J. Dockery are now partners at Whitman Breed, while Brendan Sheehan and Stephanie Jones are associates. The firm has also hired a former Mudge Rose legal assistant.
Mudge Rose, once one of the nation's most prominent municipal bond law firms, began liquidation proceedings this month after suffering profit losses over the last few years.
Holmes has worked with a number of New York issuers, including the New York City Industrial Development Authority. He also represents several foreign banks.
Dockery, who has been a municipal bond lawyer for 27 years and worked on nearly 1,500 transactions, has represented issuers across the country, including the Salt River Project in Arizona and the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency.
The two join Whitman Breed's 18-member public finance department, which is headed by James S. Normile, also a member of the firm's executive committee.
Whitman Breed is a 250-lawyer firm with offices nationwide. So far this year, the firm has worked on 22 transactions totaling more than $1 billion, ranking 22d in the nation among bond counsel, according to Securities Data Co. Last year, the firm worked on 65 deals totaling more than $650 million, ranking 65th.
