WASHINGTON — The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board is unveiling an updated look to its EMMA website on Feb. 7, with a focus on improving ease of navigation for new users.

The MSRB gave The Bond Buyer a preview of the updated site, which marks the only major face lift the disclosure and educational materials repository has gotten since its 2008 launch.

The revamped site includes a new "pilot" feature allowing users to search all state, city, county and other municipal securities issuers in a particular state. This "issuer home page" is prominently presented via a map on the site's landing page. A daily market recap feature will highlight the most actively-traded securities each day, and will also provide links to market-wide data.

"The redesigned home page will continue to provide direct links to essential EMMA tools and resources, such as the quick search function and EMMA dataport, the application through which municipal market participants submit data and disclosures to EMMA," the MSRB said in a release. "The changes seek to help investors, state and local governments, and all market participants use EMMA to make more informed decisions."

The quick search function that allows users to track down a security by name or CUSIP will continue to be available on every page, the MSRB said, as it is among the most widely-used features of EMMA.
