Milwaukee ISM Index Jumps to 62 in December

The seasonally adjusted Milwaukee Index climbed to 62 in December from 59 in November, the Institute for Supply Management-Milwaukee announced Thursday.

New orders received grew to 67 from 62, production slid to 67 from 70, backlog increased to 54 from 48, and supplier lead times fell to 30 from 36.

Blue collar employment climbed to 57 from 56, while white collar employment also crept to 57 from 56. Inventory levels declined to 53 from 59, while capital equipment purchases rose to 64 from 62.

The prices paid index grew to 66 from 64.
