Adrian King Jr. is resigning as Pennsylvania's first deputy attorney general to rejoin law firm Ballard Spahr as partner on June 16.
King, one of Kathleen Kane's first hires after being elected attorney general in November 2012, was a partner at Philadelphia-based Ballard Spahr for more than seven years before Kane hired him.
According to a Ballard Spahr statement on June 5, King will work in the firm's business and finance department and its government relations, regulatory affairs and contracting group. Other group affiliations will include P3/infrastructure, white collar defense/internal investigations, consumer financial services, and EB-5 practice.
He was deputy chief of staff to Gov. Edward Rendell and director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, where he managed a budget exceeding $100 million. He also was Rendell's liaison to the departments banking and state, as well as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board and the Department of Revenue.
