WASHINGTON — The National Association of Local Finance Housing Agencies has re-elected Ernestine Garey, from Invest Atlanta as its president, as well as other officers and new directors.
The Washington-based group held the elections at its annual meeting in Atlanta on April 3. Garey, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Invest Atlanta, was re-elected to a one-year term.
NALHFA also re-elected: vice president Paula Sampson of the Department of Housing and Community Development of Fairfax, Va.; treasurer Ron Williams, executive director of the Southeast Texas Housing Finance Corp.; and secretary W. D. Morris, executive director of the Housing Finance Authority of Orange County, Fla.
Jim Shaw, executive director of the Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation in Texas, will remain immediate-past president.
NALHFA also elected five new directors, who will serve two-year terms. They are: Tom Cummings of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Rich Froehlich of the New York City Housing Development Corp.; Rushmore Cervantes from the Department of Housing and Community Investment in Los Angeles; Maria Day-Marshall of the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency; and Mark Ulfers from the Dakota County Community Development Agency in Minnesota.
NALHFA is a non-profit group formed in 1983, and advocates on behalf of professionals who finance low-cost housing. The group recently warned about aspects of House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Dave Camp's tax-reform proposal that would eliminate tax provisions key to providing community development services. Camp is a Republican from Michigan.
