CHICAGO — Kansas City, Mo.-based George K. Baum & Co. this morning announced its physical expansion into St. Louis with the hiring of prominent municipal banker Amelia A.J. Bond, who led the former A.G. Edwards & Sons/Wachovia Securities public finance banking group.
“We’re thrilled to have such an accomplished professional with a great national reputation join our team. Amelia understands issuers and their financing needs,” Baum chief executive officer Jonathan E. Baum said in a statement. “Her experience and understanding, combined with her proven managerial abilities and her past leadership within the industry as chair of the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, will be a great asset.”
Bond joined the firm earlier this week as an executive vice president. She most recently served as a managing director and head of public finance at Wachovia Securities. Prior to Wachovia’s acquisition of A.G. Edwards in 2007, Bond had served for seven years as a senior vice president and director of public finance at A.G. Edwards. Bond served a three-year term from 2003 to 2006 on the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board and served as its chairman during the 2005-2006 term.
“I am eager to help municipal issuers in Missouri and the Midwest develop and implement financial strategies that will enable them to build the schools they need to educate children, repair roads to facilitate commerce, and deliver the municipal services that their constituents depend on,” Bond said in a statement.
