Doryan Carlton will take over as director of the Alabama Department of Finance, Gov. Kay Ivey announced Monday.
Her duties as finance director will include overseeing the state's bond issuance.
Carlton will replace Bill Poole, who's last day will be Friday.
Carlton has been serving as state budget director.
"For years, Doryan has done good work on our state's budgets within the Executive Budget Office," Ivey said. "Thanks in part to her leadership, Alabama has not once declared proration during my administration.
"Many giants have come before us at the Department of Finance and I know Doryan will be a giant in her own right," Ivey said.
"She is someone who works diligently behind the scenes with an acute attention to detail that will serve our state well," the governor said.
"I am deeply honored and grateful to Gov. Ivey for placing her trust in me and giving me the opportunity to serve as finance director," Carlton said. "I look forward to building on the department's strong foundation, working collaboratively with our talented staff and dedicated professionals across state government and continuing our commitment to responsible stewardship of the state's financial resources."
Along with overseeing budgeting, the Department of Finance manages bond issuance.
Poole helped steward more than $7 billion in public bond financing and debt refinancing and reorganization.

Ivey is nearing
A new governor will be sworn in in mid-January. Tommy Tuberville is the Republican candidate and Doug Jones is the Democrat. The last major poll, completed in July, showed Tuberville leading the race by 8 points.
