Top bond counsel sees new additions

The top bond counsel in 2023 handled a combined $361.721 billion across 7,164 bond issues versus $359.189 billion in 7,882 transactions in 2022. 

The top 10 bond counsel, which welcomed three newcomers, accounted for $168.232 billion across 2,118 issues in 2023. The additions, Stradling Yocca Carlson & Ruth, Bracewell and Gilmore & Bell, knocked Chapman and Cutler, Squire Patton Boggs and Butler Snow out of the top 10.

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe stays No. 1

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe retained first place on the list. The firm worked on $43.814 billion across 314 issues, compared to $41 billion in 375 issues in 2022. The firm's market share increased to 12.1% from 2022's 11.4%.

Norton Rose Fulbright rises to second

Norton Rose Fulbright rose to second from fourth on the list in 2023. The firm's market share rose to 6.9% from 4.3%. It handled $24.780 billion across 229 issues versus $15.369 billion across 236 issues in 2022.

Kutak Rock fell to third from second on the list but had slightly more par. The firm on $19.895 billion in 386 deals, with 5.5% of the market, compared to $19.190 billion in 406 deals and 5.3% of the market in 2022.

McCall Parkhurst & Horton moved to the fourth slot, down from third in 2022. The firm worked on $18.207 billion in 353 deals and made up 5% of the market, versus 2022's $15.891 billion across 360 deals and 4.4% market share.

Hawkins Delafield & Wood remains in fifth

Hawkins Delafield & Wood stayed in fifth in 2023. The firm's accounted for $15.545 billion across 209 issues, compared to $11.986 billion across 223 issues in 2022. The firm's market share increased up to 4.3% from 3.3% in 2022.

Rounding out the top 10 are: Nixon Peabody in sixth with $10.508 billion across 60 deals; Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth with $9.727 billion across 149 deals; Bryant Rabbino in eighth with $9.441 billion in 32 deals; Bracewell in ninth with $9.008 billion in 104 deals; and Gilmore & Bell in 10th with $7.308 billion across 282 deals.
