All Roads Lead to Katten

Former Chicago corporation counsel Mara Georges has followed her boss, former Mayor Richard Daley, to the law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP as a partner.

For 12 years, Georges served under Daley, who retired in May. She was named to head the counsel department overseeing 300 attorneys in 1999.

Georges will be responsible for advising clients on matters involving federal, state and local levels of government on a variety of issues including zoning, land use and planning.

The firm announced last month that Daley had joined in an of counsel role. Katten Muchin has earned nearly $3.7 million over the past five years for city work, mostly on financial transactions.

The firm was the lead legal adviser that shared $1.5 million in fees for its work on the city’s controversial $1.15 billion lease-parking meter system. Katten has been the top bond counsel for city deals since 2009.
