XLCA taps MBIA Vet for Surveillance & Research Debt.

XL Capital Assurance Inc. announced that Charles E. Reilly will join the company as managing director in its surveillance and research department, where he will head the public finance and structured single risk team. Reilly will report to Drew Hoffman, head of surveillance and research.

The surveillance and research department is responsible for monitoring the performance of XLCA's insured credit portfolio and managing its risk profile.

"I'm looking forward to working closely with the public finance and structured single risk business to write high-quality business in this fast-growing sector," Reilly said.

Reilly comes to XLCA from MBIA Insurance Corp., where he spent 11 years in a variety of surveillance and fixed-income related roles. Prior to his stint in the financial guaranty business, Reilly worked for 12 years in investment banking and commercial finance.

XLCA president and chief operating officer Edward B.
