Wiessmann Confirmed as Pennsylvania Banking Secretary

The Pennsylvania Senate confirmed Gov. Tom Wolf's confirmation of Robin Wiessmann as secretary of banking and securities.

Wiessmann oversees more than 200 state-chartered banks, credit unions and trust companies; and licenses and registers more than 200,000 financial services professionals and companies that provide consumer loans, investment services, and other financial services. The department also reviews more than 5,000 securities offerings annually.

She was state treasurer from 2007 to 2009, where she was the primary fiduciary and custodian of $120 billion. Previously, she was Philadelphia's deputy director of finance, where she managed the city's debt offerings.

Wiessmann was a founding principal and president of Artemis Capital Group, the first women-owned investment banking firm on Wall Street. Previously she was a vice president of public finance at Goldman Sachs.

She has also served as a commissioner on the Delaware River Port Authority.
