WASHINGTON — Wholesale inventories increased 0.8% in August, the Commerce Department reported today.
Wholesale sales increased 0.5% for the month.
Economists expected wholesale inventories would increase 0.5% and sales would increase 0.4%, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.
July’s wholesale inventories increased 1.5% revised from the 1.3% rise reported last month. Sales rose 0.8% in July.
The inventories-to-sales ratio was 1.16 in August, unchanged from July.
