Treasury: U.S. Gov’t Ran $43.1B Deficit in June

WASHINGTON - The federal government reported a $43.1 billion deficit in June, the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

Outlays totaled $292.7 billion and receipts were $249.7 billion.

The May budget deficit was unrevised at $57.6 billion.

Economists were expecting a $68.0 billion deficit for June, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.

For the fiscal year through June, the government had $970.5 billion deficit, compared with a $1.01 trillion deficit at this point in fiscal 2010.
