Treasury: U.S. Gov’t Ran $188.2B Deficit in March

WASHINGTON – The federal government ran a $188.2 billion deficit in March, the Treasury Department reported Tuesday.

Receipts totaled $150.9 billion for the month and outlays were $339.0 billion.

Economists expected a $189.0 billion deficit, according to the median estimate from Thomson Reuters.

The February deficit was unrevised at $222.5 billion.
