The Treasury will auction $30 billion of 91-day bills and $30 billion of 182-day discount bills. The 91-day bills are dated Sept. 2 and Dec. 2. The 182-day bills are dated Sept. 26 and due March 3.
Personal income and spending  figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.

Tuesday, August 31
Consumer confidence figures for August are released by the Conference Board.

Wednesday, September 1
Construction spending figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.
 
Thursday, September 2
Initial jobless claims for the week ending Aug. 28 are released by the Labor Department.
Productivity and cost figures for the second quarter are released by the Labor Department.
Factory orders, shipment and inventory figures for July are released by the Commerce Department.

Pending home sales figures for July are released by the National Association of Realtors.

Friday, September 3
The employment situation for August is released by the Labor Department.
