Tech College to Face Voters

The Fox Valley Technical College will seek approval on the April 3 ballot for $66.5 million of new borrowing to finance capital projects.

The school’s board of trustees last week approved the ballot question. It seeks funding for a new public safety training center, a health simulation and technology center, a student center, and various expansion projects.

Officials said the projects are needed to improve the school’s ability to train skilled workers.

Fox Valley Technical, located in Appleton, has seen its enrollment grow by 30% over the last three years and hopes to benefit from low interest rates and more competitive construction bids.

The April referendum is the school’s first in 14 years and would require majority votes in nine counties.
