Squire Patton Boggs has promoted Lauren Trialonas to partner in its public and infrastructure finance group.
Trialonas has worked in Squire's New York office since 2007. She works with conduit issuers, healthcare entities and higher education institutions. She described the promotion as very meaningful.
"It carries a ton of weight. It's a result of years of building client relationships and just a lot of hard work," Trialonas said. "I'm really, very proud and incredibly excited about the role. I think it brings with it a tremendous amount of responsibility and continuity."
Trialonas has leaned into the firm's healthcare practice lately, as the sector has grappled with uncertainty, regulatory challenges, and cuts to Medicaid.
"I think it's just forced issuers to be way more strategic, about timing and long-term planning," Trialonas said. "Personally, I've seen fewer refundings and more focus on long-term capital projects, long-term strategic planning."
Trialonas said she's seen more use of variable rate structures, multimodal indentures and credit enhancements. She's noticed the same trends in higher education. Issuers are trying to find flexibility, she said.
"I think that that's just going to continue, quite honestly, into the foreseeable future," Trialonas said.
Trialonas, who had been a principal at the firm, was one of 20 lawyers promoted to partner at Squire this year. The new position comes with the responsibility of mentoring early-career lawyers, she said.
Squire Patton Boggs has a culture of "cross-collaboration," Trialonas said, which is part of the reason she's worked there for so long.
"No one really operates in a silo. Even though I may be one of just a few attorneys in New York, I've always felt that I've had access to excellent mentorship," Trialonas said, as well as "the ability to work nationally on so many interesting deals."
