RFI&I for O’Hare Rail Plan

Chicago is accepting requests for information and interest through July 26 for development of a rapid passenger-rail system connecting downtown with O’Hare International Airport.

The city Department of Aviation and an O’Hare express blue ribbon committee launched the RFI&I earlier this month. The city is seeking a public-private partnership to help develop the line. “This service will alleviate traffic congestion on the region’s roadways and is intended to be independent of, but supplemental to, other mass transit system connections,” a city press release says.

The RFI&I provides guidelines for the submission of letters of interest from businesses interested in the financing, design, construction and operation of the proposed rail system. The request is also aimed at collecting industry input on the criteria needed to select a partner. Documents are available at www.ordexpressrail.com.
