Revenue Projections Rise

Gov. Scott Walker’s administration last week released revenue projections showing Wisconsin is on track to close out the current fiscal biennium with a $154 million balance.

The Department of Revenue believes Wisconsin now stands to collect about $265 million more than projected by the legislative fiscal bureau earlier this year, according to a letter to Walker from Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch.

Under law, about $45 million would flow into the state’s rainy-day fund. The improved projection is due in part to improving income tax collections and the completion of a debt restructuring.
