WASHINGTON - Industrial production was unchanged in October, while capacity utilization was 74.8% for the month, the Federal Reserve reported Tuesday.
Economists expected industrial production would increase 0.3% for the month and capacity utilization would be 74.9%, according to the median estimate.
Production in September fell 0.2%, unchanged from last month’s report. Capacity use was 74.8% in September.
Manufacturing output increased 0.5% while utility output fell 3.4% for the month as unusually warm weather reduced the need for heating.
Production of consumer durable goods rose 0.8%.
