A March rate hike "is on the table for discussion," Federal Reserve Board Governor Jerome Powell said in a televised interview Thursday.
"The case for a rate increase has come together," Powell said in an interview on CNBC TV.
While there is "probably still some slack" in the labor market, "we're as close to our goal as we've been."
The economic momentum is "solid" and the economy "is right where we need to be."
As for the number of hikes this year, Powell said, "three feels about right," although he cautioned it depends on the economy.
