Philadelphia Fed non-mfg index slips to 30.1 in April

The region's non-manufacturing sector “continued to expand,” although at a slower pace, as the general business conditions index dipped to 30.1 in April from 35.4 in March, this month's Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Report on Business, released Tuesday, indicates.

At the company level, the general business activity index grew to 34.9 from 32.5.

The prices paid index was 31.6, up from 18.0 last month, new orders index gained to 33.5 from 22.6, sales or revenues rose to 34.7 from 20.3, the unfilled orders index climbed to 13.7 from 3.0, the inventories index increased to 7.1 from 4.6, prices received surged to positive 24.7 from negative 4.7, the number of full time employees index increased to 26.4 from 17.2, and the average employee workweek rose to 20.0 from 18.9.

The six months from now regional general business conditions index slid to 47.8 from 52.6, while the company general business conditions index rose to 59.1 from 53.8.
