Oklahoma City's teaching hospitals will undergo major reconstructive surgery in a $180 million project that will include $39 million of recently approved bond financing. The three-year project will upgrade Presbyterian Tower, Everett Tower, and Children's Hospital, which make up the city's medical teaching complex and are affilated with the University of Oklahoma.
Financing will include $100 million from Nashville-based HCA, $41 million in accumulated revenue from the joint operating agreement between HCA and the state University Hospitals Authority and Trust, and $39 million from tax-exempt revenue bonds.
The project, one of the largest in state history, will make Oklahoma City one of the region's major medical hubs, officials said.
"This project marks a major investment in our state and in the health of all Oklahomans," said Gov. Brad Henry.
