The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development has issued a request for qualifications to create a roster of minority and women-owned business enterprises to compete for affordable housing development projects.
Though this RFQ, the department will evaluate and compile a roster of prequalified MWBE developers with the necessary experience and capacity to develop, maintain, and manage high-quality affordable housing, according to Commissioner Vicki Been.
"This RFQ, in combination with the other prongs of our building opportunity initiative, offer MWBE developers a chance to learn industry best practices, gain valuable experience and access the resources they need." Been said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a 10-year plan to build and preserve 200,000 affordable units throughout the five boroughs.
HPD will accept applications for the RFQ through March 20, 2015.
