New Budget Chief

New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch last week appointed John Beardmore to be the next budget director.

Beardmore has served in the Office of the Legislative Assistant for the past eight years, most recently as one of its budget officers. The office conducts investigations, analyses, and research on the state’s financial activities as part of the General Court, the state’s legislature. Beardmore will replace budget director Kristyn Van Ostern effective Sept. 1.

Beardmore earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Massachusetts in 2002 and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of New Hampshire in 2000.

Beardmore will not be directly involved with New Hampshire’s bond issuances, which are handled by the treasurer’s office. The state has approximately $900 million of general obligation debt outstanding.
