WASHINGTON — The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board plans to conduct a survey of municipal advisors later this month to help it develop professional qualification exams.
The electronic survey, which will be confidential, will assess the business activities of MAs.
The survey will be distributed by an independent administrator to the individuals at registered MA firms who have been designated as the regulatory contacts. The MSRB is hoping they will give the survey to other MA professionals at the firm.
Muni advisors, who have previously indicated a willingness to respond to the survey, will also receive them.
The time frame for the survey will be from the week of June 16 to early July.
"The MSRB hopes to collect survey information from as many municipal advisor professionals as possible," said MSRB Executive Director Lynnette Kelly. "Because of the diversity of the industry, responses from a variety of firms will play a central role in guiding the MSRB's work to develop a professional qualifications program that makes sense for all municipal advisors."
The MSRB plans to host a webinar on Wednesday, June 18, at 4:00 pm to provide detailed instructions for responding to the survey. Registered muni advisors will receive a registration link to the webinar from the MSRB.
