Mesirow Financial adds New England banker team

Chicago-based Mesirow Financial is expanding its public finance business in the Northeast with the addition of two Connecticut bankers.

Mesirow announced Tuesday that John Healey and Richard Thivierge were hired from William Blair as managing directors based in Hartford. The two will focus on expanding Mesirow’s business in the New England market along with providing financing and debt offerings for municipalities and government entities.

"We are excited to expand our public finance business with the addition of John and Richard as highly regarded bankers in the southern New England region and look forward to serving more municipal clients across the United States," Todd Waldrop, head of Mesirow Financial’s Public Finance group, said in a statement.

Healey was vice president of William Blair’s Debt Capital Markets group the last two years. Before that, Healey helped spearhead a financial turnaround in New Britain, Conn., as chief of staff under Mayor Erin E. Stewart. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a law degree from the University of Connecticut.

Thivierge, who has 43 years of public finance experience, was most recently managing director in William Blair’s Infrastructure Investment Banking group and led the firm’s New England office. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from American International College.
