Armonk, N.Y.,-based MBIA Insurance Corp. last week promoted Katherine McManus to deputy general counsel.
McManus joined MBIAs public finance department last August in a newly created director position, where she served as product specialist for derivatives and other complex transactions for the bond insurers western region group.
Following her promotion, McManus will continue to exercise those responsibilities in and outside of the western region, in addition to supporting the public finance department under general counsel Ram Wertheim.
Before MBIA, McManus served for six years at Fitch Ratings, most recentlyas a managing director in public finance, where she worked in the tax-backed and structured finance groups. McManus joined Fitch after 12 years at Moodys Investors Service.
McManus is a graduate of Hofstra University Law School.
