Not many people can say they found a career right out of the gate.
Although Leslie Bacon knew she wanted to become an attorney when she was just 10 years old, it was a summer internship at Norton Rose Fulbright that introduced her to public finance and its highly complex and fast-paced transactional work that helps local communities.
Bacon was sold: Public finance law was a blend of everything she was looking for in a career.
"I love solving complicated problems faced by our local governmental clients," she said. "We come up with strategic solutions that have a real impact on our communities."
After graduation from University of Alabama School of Law, Bacon returned to her home state of Texas and joined the firm's Houston office where she acts as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriter's counsel for local government agencies and nonprofits.
Her experience includes traditional tax-backed financings, tax increment financings, revenue financings, validation suits and private placements.
Bacon is proud to have served as attorney and bond counsel for one of the largest issuances of non-voted tax debt in Texas and as bond counsel and developer's counsel on numerous tax-exempt bond securitizations. "We helped Harris County work through complex issues for projects that provide a lot of support for the Houston and neighboring communities," Bacon said.
She's also involved in several professional women's organizations, cherishing her relationships with others in public finance. "Transactions wouldn't be the same without a close-knit community. It makes this career enjoyable for a lifetime," Bacon said. She also serves on the firm's pro bono committee. "It's a blessing to be involved in the community through this work," she added.
