Kevin Roberts' door is always open for junior analysts.
As a key mentor in BAM's rotational analyst program, he's committed to helping new professionals build both technical expertise and confidence. "One of the hardest things as a new analyst is not getting lost in the weeds," he says. "I try to help younger analysts understand how their work fits into the bigger picture."
Public finance wasn't Kevin's original career plan. A college baseball player, he initially envisioned a future in sports psychology. Career counselors encouraged him to explore finance through internships at a hedge fund and an insurance company. Turns out, finance was the right path.
Kevin joined Wells Fargo's municipal finance team after graduation, where he built a strong foundation in public finance. Nine years ago, he brought that experience to Build America Mutual (BAM), where he continues to combine analytical rigor with a passion for public purpose.
Kevin loves the role he plays in the cycle of public infrastructure and public investments. "Helping finance the schools our children attend, the roads we drive on, and the airports we travel through isn't just interesting — it's work that serves the public good," he says.
That public good isn't limited to infrastructure. Kevin worked on the state of Connecticut's innovative financing to seed its Baby Bonds Trust, a transaction that earned The Bond Buyer's Innovative Finance Deal of the Year Award. "Knowing that disadvantaged children will have opportunities they otherwise might not have is incredibly rewarding," he says.
Kevin is proud of the relationships he has built throughout the municipal market and the skills he continues to hone, but one of his proudest personal accomplishments came outside the office. While working full time, Kevin earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, balancing demanding workdays with months of late-night studying.
