Casey Fox is quick to credit the people who helped shape his career.
"I've been fortunate to work with managers who invested in my development," he says. "I wouldn't be where I am today without their support."
That mentorship began during a college internship at PFM Asset Management and then eight years as a municipal advisor. Casey was given meaningful client-facing responsibilities early in his career and developed a specialization in higher education.
While he enjoyed the advisory side of the business, Casey realized his long-term passion was investment banking.
He joined RBC five years ago and focuses on higher education finance with an emphasis on privatized student housing. The move also gave him the opportunity to build on the work of two respected industry leaders who had helped establish RBC's presence in the sector.
"I'm grateful they had the confidence to entrust me with what they had built and allow me to continue their legacy," Casey says.
Higher education presents unique financing challenges, and Casey enjoys finding creative solutions that extend well beyond traditional bond offerings. One transaction that stands out was a $330 million financing for the Kentucky Bond Development Corp. to support Western Kentucky University's student housing initiative. The project privatized the university's student housing assets, enabling the modernization of existing facilities while financing the construction of an additional 1,000 student beds.
"Higher education is facing significant headwinds," Casey says. "It's rewarding to help institutions think differently and develop financing solutions that position them for long-term success."
Casey has become a recognized resource in the student housing market and a trusted mentor to junior bankers. Just as others invested in his career early on, he is committed to helping the next generation develop the technical skills, confidence and relationships needed to succeed in public finance.
