Commission President David Carrington said in a brief announcement less than an hour before the meeting was to start that the county has now agreed to wait until Aug. 4 to take any action so that negotiations could continue between sewer system creditors and the Alabama governor’s office.

Creditors late Wednesday offered a counterproposal to settle a restructuring deal over $3.14 billion of sewer warrants on which the county has defaulted.
