The Institute for Supply Management’s non-manufacturing business activity composite index was 53.0 in February, up from 50.5 in January, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the group said yesterday.
Economists polled by Thomson Reuters had expected a 51.0 level.
The prices paid index, closely watched for signs of inflation, slid to 60.4 from 61.2.
The employment index increased to 48.6 from 44.6. The business activity-production index rose to 54.8 from 52.2.
