Liu, who gave up his seat to run unsuccessfully for mayor, began lecturing at Baruch College's School of Public Affairs on Jan. 29. He will teach public policy and municipal finance for the master in public administration program, he said in a statement.

Liu is expected to cover bread-and-butter accounting, auditing, debt issuance and investment management. He said his class would also analyze current issues of economic development policy, labor relations, and pension and healthcare cost impact.

Liu was a councilman from Queens borough before his election as comptroller in 2009. He finished fourth and last in last year's Democratic mayoral primary, behind current Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Scott Stringer succeeded Liu as comptroller.
