Public finance has been part of Christina's Saggiomo's life since she was a child.
Christina's father worked in public finance and showed her the infrastructure projects he helped finance. Those experiences sparked a fascination with how capital markets can shape community. Equally important was her love for her hometown of Philadelphia. Bringing those two passions together has allowed Christina to build a career dedicated to improving the city she calls home.
Her journey began during the 2008 financial crisis, when she interned in the city of Philadelphia treasurer's office. Christina saw market turmoil as an amazing learning experience.
But there was more to learn, so Christina joined Morgan Stanley's municipal securities desk as an analyst before spending five years in Wells Fargo's public finance investment banking group.
In 2022, she was recruited to join Philadelphia International Airport. Although aviation finance was new to her, Christina viewed it as an opportunity to bring fresh perspectives to one of the region's most important transportation assets.
"I want to make Philadelphia better," she says. "I get to see tangible results for a place that I care deeply about."
Christina is proud of the relationships she's built throughout the industry. For the past six years, she has served on the board of the Pennsylvania chapter of Women in Public Finance, where she's found not only professional development but also lasting friendships. She credits supportive colleagues and mentors throughout her career for helping her grow.
Today, the story has come full circle. Just as her father once pointed out the infrastructure projects he helped finance, Christina now does the same with her two young sons. Their verdict? Philadelphia International Airport is "pretty cool."
