The Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index slipped 1.0% in October to a seasonally adjusted level of 98.6. That followed a September report showing a revised 3.6% decrease to 99.5, originally reported as 2.6% drop to 100.6, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported Wednesday.
Nationally, the Federal Reserve Board’s industrial production index for manufacturing rose 0.6% in October. Overall manufacturing output in the region dropped 8.3% from a year earlier, compared to a 5.2% decline in output nationally in that period.
