AHFC Gets New Board Member

Gov. Sarah Palin Wednesday appointed Jyotsna “Jo” Heckman to the board of directors of the Alaska Housing Finance Corp.

The AHFC is the state’s housing finance agency, charged with improving the availability of affordable housing, using tools such as low-cost mortgages, and serving as a vehicle to conduct other financings for the state government.

The corporation was the state’s top bond issuer in 2007, according to Thomson Reuters data, credited with $544.1 million.

Heckman is one of seven members of the AHFC board. A Fairbanks resident, she is president and chief executive officer of Denali State Bank.
