$1.5B of Revs Go to Judge

The Sunshine State Governmental Financing Commission today is scheduled to ask Florida Circuit Judge John Cooper to validate a total of $1.5 billion of revenue bonds.

The commission is seeking to validate $1 billion to provide financing for capital projects. In a separate hearing, it is asking the judge to validate $500 million to finance pension and other post-employment benefit liabilities.

The commission was created by state law to provide pooled financings for member governments. Current members are the cities of Coral Gables, Coral Springs, Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Miami, Miami Beach, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee, and Vero Beach, as well as Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Polk counties.
