Kozlik, Mier to Address Philadelphia Municipal Analyst Society

Chris Mier, chief strategist at Loop Capital along with Tom Kozlik, director and credit analyst at Janney Capital Markets, will be presenting their forecasts for the municipal bond market at the Jan. 15 meeting of the Philadelphia Municipal Analyst Society.

Mier and Kozlik will be giving their 2015 outlooks with a focus on volume and credit-related issues. The event is scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m. on the 51st floor of the Top of the Tower in Center City Philadelphia.

Kozlik said while Puerto Rico and Detroit have gotten much of the attention recently, there are other important issues like pensions and credit challenges facing several municipal sectors that investors need to focus on.

"2015 is going to be an important year for municipal investors," said Kozlik. "Most issuers have benefitted from a multi-year economic recovery, but some have not. We will go into more detail about what is stressing these sectors and the issuers in them."

The non-profit organization, which goes by the acronym PhAMAS, was founded in 2013 and has members across the Philadelphia region including New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Its forming committee consists of Kozlik, Bill Bonawitz from PNC Capital Advisors, Ron Mintz of Vanguard Group and Stephen Winterstein of Wilmington Trust Investment Advisors.

Persons interested in attending the Jan. 15 PhAMAS meeting should contact Kozlik at tkozlik@janney.com.
