Municipal Advisor Ryan A. Bendzinski Dies at 32

Ryan A. Bendzinski, part owner of Michigan based-Bendzinski & Co. Municipal Financial Advisors, died April 11. He was 32.

Bendzinski, a Gross Pointe, Mich. native, attended Northwood University and graduated from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 2007.

He joined the family owned business Bendzinski & Co. in 2004. The company assists Michigan municipalities in the development, sale and delivery of bond and note issues and has provided services to more than 450 different clients on more than $3 billion worth of bonds and notes, according to the company website.

Bendzinski was described by family, colleagues and friends as a loving person who wanted to please others; welcoming; outgoing; and gregarious.

He was a member of Gowanie Golf Club, the Detroit Athletic Club, and a former member of Lochmoor Club. Professionally, he was a member of Michigan Association of County Drain Commissioners, Michigan Townships Association, Michigan Association of School Administrators, and The Bond Club of Detroit.

Bendzinski is survived by his wife Heather; their unborn son; his parents, Robert J. Bendzinski and Teresa Bendzinski (Mark Stapleton); his siblings, brother and "Best Bud" Kevin; brother, Robby; sister, Ann Marie and stepsister, Katie Stapleton; his in-laws Eric and Kathleen Tomsej; brother-in-law, Justin Tomsej and grandparents Robert C. and Patricia Bendzinski. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins and his beloved Olive, a rescued shepherd mix breed.

A visitation was planned for Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home in Grosse Pointe Woods. The funeral mass is planned for Saturday at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church.
